Transformative OA Agreement for Germany

Deal
-

Projekt DEAL, an initiative commissioned by the Alliance of German Science Organizations, and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø have completed the world's largest Transformative Agreement.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø publishes about 17% of all scientific articles published annually at German scientific institutions. These publications are now globally freely available, visible, and legally secure via the new Open Access contract. More than 900 German institutions are eligible to participate in the agreement between ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Projekt DEAL, meaning that corresponding authors affiliated with these institutions are eligible to publish their articles open access without being invoiced by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. This will substantially and permanently improve access to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø content for the entire German research landscape.

Since January 1, 2020, corresponding authors affiliated to an eligible German institution have been able to publish open access with fees covered, in more than 2,000 hybrid journals across the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø portfolio.

From August 1, 2020, the contract also bundles the publications in more than 500 fully open access journals across the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø portfolio with a 20% discount on the article fees (with the exception of Scientific Reports and Nature Communications).

Further contract conditions can be found on the DEAL information page:
