ϳԹ works continuously to respond to the needs of librarians and their users.  One way we do this is by developing our platforms to be as supportive, responsive and innovative as possible.

The teams behind these developments work to bring you the best in scientific research anywhere and anytime across ϳԹ Link, nature.com and scientificamerican.com, and a central location to manage content on librarian.springernature.com.

Working towards a joined ϳԹ librarian portal

One of our goals is to provide the best possible online experience for librarians throughout the value chain from marketing and eCommerce to customer care and self service. The Product and Platform team is currently optimizing the end to end user journeys through different online touch points like the librarian marketing site, campaigns, librarian portal and metadata downloader.

“In the last few months we migrated the nature.com and Springer librarian portals to one joint ϳԹ portal. We are continuously improving and extending functionality of this portal.”

Jochen Ade, Senior Product Manager, Information Technology

Introducing shared features across all platforms

In order to give all ϳԹ platforms a common look and feel, we are introducing shared features across ϳԹ Link, nature.com and BMC. Our Product and Platform team is choosing the best features from every platform and implementing them across all sites.

The team has also been working on the consolidation of the journal article templates. All journal articles are currently being moved to a shared template based on the nature.com template, taking the best elements from ϳԹ Link and BMC. The Springer journals homepages are receiving a new design which is currently being tested in beta.

“Our aim is to build and operate a single platform with multiple branding faces, finding commonalities where they exist and supporting differences in character where they are important.”

Stephen Cornelius, Group Product Manager, Product and Platform Group

Migration to scientificamerican.com

Good news from the Scientific American product team, the migration of Scientific American from the nature.com platform to scientificamerican.com has been completed. Since then we have been working to improve the user experience, content discoverability which also includes improved metadata and an advanced search option.
